Driving too fast or driving too slow, what is more dangerous? The truth is both. We know either one can potentially lead to accidents. However, is driving slow more dangerous than speeding? Let’s take a closer look.

Traffic ticketDriving too fast

Firstly, driving too fast can be incredibly dangerous as it increases the chances of losing control of the vehicle, especially in adverse weather conditions. Additionally, speeding reduces the amount of time a driver has to react to unexpected obstacles or hazards on the road, such as pedestrians, animals, or other vehicles. This can lead to collisions and potentially fatal accidents. Speeding is also a contributing factor in how severe a car accident can become. It is common sense that, the faster the car is going in an accident, the worse the collision.

Driving too slow

On the other hand, driving too slow can also be hazardous. When drivers travel significantly below the posted speed limit, they can disrupt the flow of traffic and cause congestion. This can lead to frustration and aggressive driving behaviors from other drivers who may attempt to pass unsafely or tailgate. Driving too slow can also cause unexpected braking, which can increase the risk of rear-end collisions. Additionally, driving too slow on highways and freeways can cause a bottleneck effect, leading to multi-vehicle accidents.

Furthermore, very slow driving is especially dangerous when on highways and freeways, where vehicles typically travel at higher speeds. Slow drivers on these roads can cause a bottleneck effect, increasing the likelihood of multi-vehicle accidents. The Federal Highway Administration reports that driving slower than the posted speed limit on highways can be just as dangerous as speeding.

What is more dangerous?Driving reckless

Most everyone knows that both driving too fast and too slow can be dangerous and lead to accidents but to answer what is more dangerous, it is speeding. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding is a contributing factor in approximately 26% of all traffic fatalities in the United States. While driving too slow can cause congestion and increase the risk of rear-end collisions, it is not as prevalent as speeding-related accidents. Therefore, while driving too slow can be hazardous, driving too fast causes more accidents and more fatal accidents.

Driving Defensively

It’s important to always drive at a safe and appropriate speed for the conditions and obey posted speed limits. Additionally, drivers should stay alert and aware of their surroundings, avoid distractions, and use defensive driving techniques to anticipate and avoid potential hazards on the road. Remeber if you or someone you know needs to improve on their defensive driving, they can do so online by taking a course. This can help drivers stay up to date with the latest safety practices and laws. Remember, safety on the road is everyone’s responsibility.

Comedy defensive driving course may not be a phrase your familiar with. It isn’t a subject that comes up in your everyday conversation. But maybe it should be? Did you know that taking a course not only makes you a more informed driver but it also saves you money! We go over the top 4 reasons you need to take a course below.

Save money on car insurance

Right now more than ever, saving money is important. Taking a defensive driving course can help you save on your car insurance. No one wants to pay more than they have to car insurance companies. The average savings are around 10% of your total insurance cost. For example, according to Bank Rate the average car insurance rate in America is $1771 per year. That means you save $171 a year. Why not take the time to take an online course at your own convenience to save some extra money this year.

Save money on a speeding ticket

Speeding ticketIf you have received some sort of traffic ticket recently, you may be entitled to take a defensive driving class. Many people are not aware of this and will just pay the full fee due. Don’t do this! Make sure you read your ticket correctly and know all of your options. Otherwise you may be throwing away money.

When you receive a ticket you can check the option to do a defensive driving course rather than pay the full fee. Your court will let you know if you are eligible or not. If so, your ticket cost will not only be reduced but also dismissed from your record. Therefor, not only are you saving on the actually ticket cost but also making sure that your insurance does not raise your monthly cost. Because the ticket is dismissed rather than paid off, as far as they know, it never happened!

Improve your driver knowledge

Lets be honest, we can all use a little refresher from time to time. Driving rules are no different. Most of us take one driving test when we turn 16 and then don’t bother to ever brush up on any of that knowledge ever again. Considering car accidents can potentially be fatal, we think this should change. Taking a course is easy to do, affordable and can hopefully save you from hazardous situations on the road. You will relearn thinks like:

  • The proper distance between two cars
  • How to correctly change lanes
  • The real meaning behind those traffic signs
  • What to do if there ice on the road
  • How to avoid things like hydroplaning
  • Much much more…

It’s never a bad idea to get a little refresher and take defensive driving online! It is also a great tool for new drivers. Make sure your young ones know all of the rules of the road before they get behind the wheel!

Laugh a little while you learn Traffic school funny

Comedy defensive driving is taught by real comedians. That’s right, we hired real comedians to write our course. This probably sounds like a wild idea until you read the science behind it. It has been scientifically proven that when information is tied to an emotion, people are more likely to remember. We know what we are teaching could possibly be life or death on the road so we want people to remember all of the proper driving techniques!

Courses can be taken online in the comfort of your own home. You can complete a course either through a laptop or on the go on your mobile phone. The entire series is done SNL style to ensure everyone wants to pay attention. No boring monotone guy spitting out facts. We promise you wont want to fall asleep during this course. Doesn’t it seem as if there are less cars on the road lately? If you have been curious about this, your not alone. It seems less and less people are driving recently. We discuss the statistics and the reasons people have for giving up their normal commutes.

Driving carAre there actually less people on the road

Life is back to normal, shut downs have stopped but it seems like life hasn’t gone completely back to normal just yet. Traffic was at an all time high for large cities pre-pandemic. While this hasn’t stopped completely, traffic levels are not as bad as they once were pre COVID. The fact is that less people are doing their daily drive. In a recent study by civic science, it was found that 33% of people are driving less. Another study by yahoo finances suggest that it is actually closer to 50% of Americans choosing to drive less. Why such an dramatic drop in drivers and what does this mean for the future of cars?

Work from home has changed work commutes

A big reason why we see less cars on the road is the change in work life brought on by Covid 19. More people are working from home than ever. Even is workers are not completely remote, most company has adapted to a partially remote style of work. Almost 1/3 of Americans report working from home more than they were pre-pandemic.

Previously only around 7% of the U.S. workforce worked from home. As of the end of 2020 around 58.6% are now either permanently working from home or are in a hybrid style work environment. The majority of companies doesn’t see this coming to an end any time soon. Remote work is becoming more and more popular and shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, remote workers tend to be happier with their employees vs in office workers.

Gas prices

Gas has gone to an all time high in recent months. Unfortunately, these high prices don’t seem to have an end in sight. The national comedy defensive drivingaverage is a record $4.316 per gallon, according to AAA, and one record keeps breaking another. The obviously answer to if this is affecting how much people drive is “YES!!” but just how much is it changing things? Around 50% of U.S. drivers are reporting less drive time due to high gas prices.

Driving habits you can implement to help save gas:

  • Avoid sudden stops and starts
  • Don’t drive aggressively! Speeding and slowing down and reduce your gas by 15-30% more than taking it slow
  • Shut off car when standing
  • Take it slow
  • Drop the load. Keep you car as light as possible, especially if you have anything strapped to the top of your vehicle

Remember to drive safely

Just because people are driving less doesn’t mean the roads are any less dangerous. In fact, compared to pre pandemic stats, roads are just dangerous as before. Remember to keep you eyes on the road and always drive defensively.

Don’t forget you can save money on your insurance, dismiss a ticket and become a better drive by taking a defensive driving class. You can take a defensive driving class right here with the only all video course taught by real comedians. Sign up today to get a laugh in and become a better driver!

Traffic ticket Speeding ticket on the rise? Let’s get that driving record cleaned up.

Many states use a point system for keeping track of traffic offenses. Your points go up every time you get a ticket for speeding and other violations. If you accumulate a certain number of points within a particular time, your driver’s license can eventually get suspended.

It’s different from one state to another – in some, there will be a set number of points added to your record. In others, certain violations will add more points than others. For example, in Florida, your license will be suspended for 30 days if you accumulate 12 points in a year. On the other hand, getting 18 points within 18 months will incur a three-month suspension in other states.

How to Get a Speeding Point Reduction

The good news is that there are a couple of things you can do so you can get point reduction for speeding and other offenses. Earning a traffic ticket point reduction is not impossible. The following are some useful tips for cleaning up a driving record:

Take Defensive Driving Courses

One of the most effective speeding point reduction methods is to take defensive driving courses. In addition, Florida laws require offenders to take the Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDI). This course is your best option for point reduction for speeding.

BDI courses vary by the number of hours you have to spend on them. These courses can range from four, eight and 12-hour durations. You can take these Florida point reduction courses online, but the court may order you to take them in person in some cases.

Completing these courses have the following benefits:

  • All your court-ordered requirements will be met.
  • You maintain your current safe driver status.
  • It helps you in cleaning up a driving record.
  • Traffic ticket point reduction.
  • It prevents your insurance rates from going higher.
  • It keeps points off your record.

Once you have completed a course, you’ll be required to report it to your DMV. Before starting with the driving course, you should determine how you submit your report and how you are supposed to deliver your completion information. Submission options include in-person, mail, fax and email.

Other Options For Traffic Ticket Point Reduction

While there are other options for speeding point reduction, they are more costly, and they can be tricky too. With the help of your lawyer, in some cases, you can get the charge dismissed. However, obtaining a successful dismissal argument is rare.

Again, with your lawyer, you can negotiate for the ticket to get reduced. This won’t remove points, but it can save you money on insurance and prevent the loss of your license. Another workaround is to get the charge reduced to an equipment violation. However, not all accounts will be eligible for this option.

At Comedy Defensive Driving, you won’t need to worry about complex workarounds. All you need to do is successfully complete your course and you can look forward to having your points reduced in no time.

Can you take a defensive driving course more than once? Looking to reduce points for traffic infractions?

comedy defensive drivingIf you’re looking for online driving school certification for point reduction that is fast, efficient, and fun, once you’ve discovered our defensive driving course, the question we get asked most often is: how many times can you take a defensive online driving course?

Once you’ve figured out how easy it is to reduce points on your driver’s license by completing our online course, the chances are, you’ll be back enthusiastically, looking for more tips!

Online driving school certification for point reduction gives you more peace of mind. Knowing that if you get pulled over by the cops and you have an unblemished license offers a great sense of confidence. This way, you get to enjoy the freedom of the road without the nagging thought that your citations might get your license suspended.

On top of our course being fast, efficient and fun, there’s the added bonus that you get to brush up on your driving skills and learn how to drive defensively. With Comedy Defensive Driving, our defensive driving course is recognized in Texas, Florida, California, and New Jersey. It’s a great way to get point reduction certification, as well as reduce your insurance premiums.

So with all these great reasons to touch up on your road safety knowledge, the question still stands: how many times can you take defensive driving?

Different states have different rules. In Florida, you can take a defensive online driving course once every twelve months, and no more than five times in total. To be clear: this isn’t to be confused with taking the course and then not passing the final exam the first time around. You can have as many attempts as you like to pass, and all those attempts still only count towards your first overall attempt at taking the defensive driving course.

In New Jersey, online driving school certification for point reduction will offer you an insurance discount on your automobile for up to 10% and knock off up to two points off your driving record. You can take the course every three years to qualify for an insurance discount. If you’re looking to remove points from your driving record, you can only take a defensive driving course once every five years.

In California, you can take a defensive driving course every 18 months. You’ll qualify to have your ticket dismissed provided your offense was not a misdemeanor, alcohol-related, didn’t happen in a commercial vehicle, and that you have a valid driver’s license.

In Texas, things get a little more complicated concerning the specifics of your ticket. Generally speaking, you can take a defensive driving course every twelve months, provided your violation wasn’t for driving above 95 MPH, passing a school bus, near to an active construction site with workers present, failing to assist after your involvement in an accident, or speeding at 25 MPH above the speed limit. Again, if you were driving a commercial vehicle you may be prohibited from acquiring online driving school certification for point reduction.

In Texas, Florida, California, and New Jersey, Comedy Defensive Driving is keeping the roads safer and the classrooms more entertaining with our online course that is fast, efficient, and fun. And did we mention that it’s funny too?

Reduce Points With Comedy Defensive Driving

Speeding ticket during holidays Santa Claus wasn’t the only thing hiding this festive season. If you got caught speeding over the silly season by a traffic officer, you’re not alone. More traffic on the roads than ever before means more traffic tickets.

If you’d rather be spending your hard-earned money on presents rather than paying traffic tickets, here are 3 tips for ticket dismissal in Texas, Florida, and New Jersey.

Here are our Top 3 Tips for Getting Your Ticket Dismissed:

1) Check the Fine Print

Were all the details filled in correctly by the presiding officer? Did you see the equipment that measured your speed? Were there any eyewitnesses present that can testify to your side of events if it is in conflict with the ticketing officer? Were you ticketed fairly, in accordance with local speed limit ticketing legislation?

All of these are issues that you can raise, in the moment – and in court. It’s important to be mindful of what happens as you get ticketed, as this can work to your advantage if there is sloppy police work involved.

2) Argue Your Case In Court

comedy defensive driving

Ignorance of the law is no exception, so you can’t simply hire a lawyer and plead that you didn’t know better. Delaying your court appearance is one way of hoping that the ticketing officer is a no-show, but preparing a good defense is probably a better, more responsible way of dealing with the speeding ticket.

Depending on how hefty your ticket is, it’s often a good idea to call a lawyer as they have the experience to advise on your chances of pleading innocent on account of extenuating circumstances. Be sure to have all the documentation from your case, and to look presentable. Having a clean driving record helps too.

3) Take a Defensive Driving Course

comedy defensive driving

Also known as traffic school, judges are more lenient on people who have broken the speed limit if they show that they are apologetic for their crime and are immediately willing to change their speeding habits. This simple choice is a win-win for all involved: society benefits from safer drivers on the road, and you get your speeding ticket squashed.

Comedy Defensive Driving offers this option to the good people of Florida,

Texas, and New Jersey because we know what it’s like to make a mistake – and then not want to have to live with it as points on your license for years to come.

We are state-certified and have been in the business for long enough to know that the way we go about helping people get their tickets dismissed is the best for all involved. Our online courses are a laugh-a-minute as we use humor as a vehicle to drive home the message of learning to drive defensively

Reckless Driving

So, you’ve been caught reckless driving and now you need to do damage control.

The good news is that you’ve come to the right place. If you’ve found yourself on the wrong side of the law, we can help.

With Comedy Defensive Driving, you can simply sign up and complete the best defensive driving course around without even leaving your favorite armchair. So lean back and settle in while we explain a few things about reckless driving and how to

reduce points on your license.

Firstly, in which state were you driving recklessly and what exactly were you doing? This can be confusing. Are you looking for a speeding ticket point reduction or reckless driving point reduction? Let’s look at the three states of New Jersey, Texas, and Florida and see if we can help. Conveniently, these are also all states where you can complete your defensive driving course with Comedy Defensive Driving.

What Defines Reckless Driving?

Driving reckless

In New Jersey, reckless driving is defined as driving “heedlessly, in willful or wanton disregard of the rights or safety of others, in a manner so as to endanger, or be likely to endanger, a person or property.”

In Texas it’s very similar: “A person commits an offense if the person drives a vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.”

In Florida, reckless driving is (somewhat strangely) defined in two parts:

  1. The defendant drove a motor vehicle, and
  2. The defendant did so with a willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.

State-wide the law is pretty similar, but it is open to interpretation. That’s where a good lawyer can help you out.

What Are The Reckless Driving Penalties

If your driving has been deemed reckless by a court of law and you want to know what the penalties are, that will most often come down to whether or not this is your first offense. Let’s start with Florida this time. The penalties for reckless driving in Florida are:

  • First offense, No Bodily Injury or Property Damage – 2nd-degree misdemeanor, a $500 fine, with penalties of up to 90 days in jail or 6 months of probation.
  • Second or Subsequent Offense – 2nd-degree misdemeanor, with up to a $1,000 fine and a maximum penalty of 6 months in jail.
  • Property Damage or Injury – 1st-degree misdemeanor, with up to a $1,000 fine punishable by up to 1 year in jail or 12 months of probation.
  • Serious Bodily Injury – 3rd-degree felony, a $5,000 fine, with penalties of up to 5 years in prison or 5 years of probation.

Texas ranks first amongst all states for drunk driving fatalities. Reckless driving can include: weaving in and out of traffic, evading the police, street racing, operating too fast for hazardous roadway conditions, driving while intoxicated by alcohol or drugs, or driving significantly over the posted speed limit.

Texas is considered somewhat lenient when it comes to reckless driving penalties (it’s defined as a misdemeanor), but a reckless driver can often get charged with additional violations to go with the original offense. Usually, you’re looking at a fine of $200 and up to 30 days in jail.

In New Jersey, a reckless driving conviction will depend on the circumstances. Possible penalties include:

  • For a first offense, reckless driving carries up to 60 days in jail and/or $50 to $200 in fines.
  • For a second reckless driving offense, you’re looking at up to three months in jail and up to $500 in fines.

Getting convicted for reckless driving will add five demerit points to your driving record in New Jersey, which has another offense called “careless driving”, which will then put two points on your record and can involve up to $200 in fines and a maximum of 15 days in jail.

“Careless driving” is really negligent driving. And negligent driving can also involve not taking care of the little things when you’re not even behind the wheel.

From Reckless to Responsible

If you’ve been charged with reckless driving, and you feel you’ve been wronged, then you do have legal recourse. If you’re willing to admit that (perhaps) your driving wasn’t as responsible as it could have been, then why not take the prudent measure of completing a defensive driving course?

Sure, we can handle your reckless driving point reduction or even your speeding ticket point reduction. That’s not a problem. But the real opportunity here is to turn you into a driver who is able to respond in an instant. And isn’t that what being response-able really means?

Defensive driving

Having taught over 3 million students so far, Comedy Defensive Driving is

confident that the best way to get the message across of learning how to drive defensively is by adding in a few laughs. While the dangers of driving on our roads in America can sometimes be no joke, learning about it doesn’t have to be a dull experience.

We take the serious business of learning how to drive and add some much-needed humor to the 100% online course. We’ve also been known to have way more fun than the competition and we are super affordable.

So once you’re done with our course you’ll be able to leave your comfy chair, strap yourself in behind the seat of the wheel, and enjoy a smooth ride, safe in the knowledge that you’ve turned reckless into responsible – even if you weren’t all that reckless to begin with. Taught by professional comedians, Comedy Defensive Driving will have you laughing while you learn. We make the business of keeping Americans safe on the road seriously funny.

Having to take a court-ordered driver improvement course may seem like a big deal. As part of the fallout from your traffic violation, being sent by a judge to attend traffic school may feel like more drama and punishment than you need right now.

Rest assured, with Comedy Defensive Driving at the wheel; your online driving school will help you reduce points, keep your insurance costs down, satisfy a judge, and keep a smile on your dial while you study. And what’s more, you’ll get same-day certification on completion of your course.

How It Works

Assuming you are in the wrong and have pleaded guilty to a traffic violation, this is the universe’s way of telling you to get your act together and the state’s way of helping you by way of a punishment that isn’t all that severe. On the contrary, a defensive driving course is a great way to brush up your understanding of the rules of the road – meaning that you’ll be a safer, smarter driver as a result.

Taking a defensive driving course can be optional. People often do it for insurance reasons as a way to keep their premiums down. Others do it to get points squashed on their driver’s license. But, when you’re dealing with a court-ordered driving course, you’re probably guilty of one of the following infringements:

  • Reckless driving
  • Running a red light
  • Passed a stopped school bus
  • Two crashes in a two-year period, which resulted in property damage greater than $500
  • You were a driver in a crash and are found at fault, and someone was transported to the hospital
  • Highway racing (including being a spectator)

If you’re taking a court-ordered driver improvement course, then it’s time to let Comedy Defensive Driving get behind the wheel.

How We Can Help

Depending on your state (we currently operate in Florida, Texas, and New Jersey), you’ll sign up for our registration process. Here we will request information such as name, email address, phone number, gender, address, date of birth, driver’s license number, and license plate number, which will be used to process the Certificate of Completion.

Inputting your Facebook account details will also ensure that this process is quick and painless. You will also need a credit or debit card to pay for the class after registering. Call us on 1-866-540-0584 at any stage of the process if you get stuck.

Our courses were created to breathe a little bit of life and humor into the hard work of learning. We’ve also made them so that you can finish in the fastest possible time. You can take Comedy Defensive Driving® at any of our classroom locations or take the course online.

So while it seems as though we’re the ones behind the wheel, you’re actually the one driving the process. You just need your own device (desktop PC, mobile, or tablet), and you’re good to go with the 100% online option. You can start and stop as you like. You can study in your underwear.

Things get a little more serious when you’ve completed the course and downloaded your certificate. You are responsible for presenting the completion certificate to the clerk’s office in the county where the citation was issued. Please consult with the traffic division in the clerk’s office in the county where the citation was issued for their exact requirements.

Submitting your certification correctly is the final step in ensuring that you get back behind the wheel after a court-ordered driving course.

Comedy Defensive Driving will have you laughing in class and then laughing behind the wheel as you drive away from your traffic worries in no time!
