Speeding ticket during holidays Santa Claus wasn’t the only thing hiding this festive season. If you got caught speeding over the silly season by a traffic officer, you’re not alone. More traffic on the roads than ever before means more traffic tickets.

If you’d rather be spending your hard-earned money on presents rather than paying traffic tickets, here are 3 tips for ticket dismissal in Texas, Florida, and New Jersey.

Here are our Top 3 Tips for Getting Your Ticket Dismissed:

1) Check the Fine Print

Were all the details filled in correctly by the presiding officer? Did you see the equipment that measured your speed? Were there any eyewitnesses present that can testify to your side of events if it is in conflict with the ticketing officer? Were you ticketed fairly, in accordance with local speed limit ticketing legislation?

All of these are issues that you can raise, in the moment – and in court. It’s important to be mindful of what happens as you get ticketed, as this can work to your advantage if there is sloppy police work involved.

2) Argue Your Case In Court

comedy defensive driving

Ignorance of the law is no exception, so you can’t simply hire a lawyer and plead that you didn’t know better. Delaying your court appearance is one way of hoping that the ticketing officer is a no-show, but preparing a good defense is probably a better, more responsible way of dealing with the speeding ticket.

Depending on how hefty your ticket is, it’s often a good idea to call a lawyer as they have the experience to advise on your chances of pleading innocent on account of extenuating circumstances. Be sure to have all the documentation from your case, and to look presentable. Having a clean driving record helps too.

3) Take a Defensive Driving Course

comedy defensive driving

Also known as traffic school, judges are more lenient on people who have broken the speed limit if they show that they are apologetic for their crime and are immediately willing to change their speeding habits. This simple choice is a win-win for all involved: society benefits from safer drivers on the road, and you get your speeding ticket squashed.

Comedy Defensive Driving offers this option to the good people of Florida,

Texas, and New Jersey because we know what it’s like to make a mistake – and then not want to have to live with it as points on your license for years to come.

We are state-certified and have been in the business for long enough to know that the way we go about helping people get their tickets dismissed is the best for all involved. Our online courses are a laugh-a-minute as we use humor as a vehicle to drive home the message of learning to drive defensively

Christmas Speeding ticket

The holiday season is upon us, and in our rush to get from place to place there’s a good chance you’ve picked up a speeding ticket. If you have recently been ticketed in the state of Texas, Florida, or New Jersey, the good news is that we can help get your speeding ticket dismissed.

Speeding violations can cost a small fortune, putting a real damper on the season’s festivities. Driving above the speed limit near a school or construction zone could be the reason for the excessively high fine you’ve been given, with speeding in areas such as these carrying a maximum fine of $1000 in Florida.

Speeding in New Jersey starts out costing $85, but quickly escalates depending on how fast you were driving. There’s also a $34 fee for challenging your speeding ticket in court. In Texas, you get either two or three points on your license. Again, depending on how fast you were going. If you get six or more points on your license within three years, you will pay a surcharge. The costs never really go away once you start to accumulate points on your license.

What if you could wipe the slate clean and get that speeding ticket dismissed?

Comedy Defensive Driving To The Rescue

comedy defensive drivingIf you’re looking to get that holiday speeding ticket dismissed, you can request permission from the courts to take a defensive driving course. What a wonderful way to start the new year, by wiping the slate clean!

With Comedy Defensive Driving, the only speeding you’ll be doing is through our coursework! Simply submit a copy of your driving record to the court and ask to enroll with us. This will not only reduce the amount that you are liable to pay, it will demonstrate to the judge that you are a responsible, law-abiding citizen.

Unfortunately, you can only take our course – or any defensive driving course for that matter – only once a year. You’re also excluded if you have a commercial driver’s license or happen to be taking another defensive driving course elsewhere at the same time. We don’t make the rules, but we do play by them.

Next up is learning the rules of the road. Or at least, refreshing your memory. Comedy Defensive Driving will get you back into the festive spirit in no time by allowing you to have a laugh while learning to drive defensively. Squashing those nasty points on your license is a bonus.

30 years in business iconYou can study online, on a device of your choosing, at your own pace. Don’t go too fast, however, or you won’t get the 80% required to pass. No sweat though, you get three attempts.

Comedy Defensive Driving adds a dash of good old lighthearted humor to our course material, so you get to laugh as you learn. That’s what makes us the best in the business – our clients pass with flying colors and go on to drive better, defensively. Let’s get your speeding ticket dismissed and head into the new year with a fresh start. This way, there’s still money left in your wallet to enjoy the holiday season without having to worry about speeding tickets.

Having to take a court-ordered driver improvement course may seem like a big deal. As part of the fallout from your traffic violation, being sent by a judge to attend traffic school may feel like more drama and punishment than you need right now.

Rest assured, with Comedy Defensive Driving at the wheel; your online driving school will help you reduce points, keep your insurance costs down, satisfy a judge, and keep a smile on your dial while you study. And what’s more, you’ll get same-day certification on completion of your course.

How It Works

Assuming you are in the wrong and have pleaded guilty to a traffic violation, this is the universe’s way of telling you to get your act together and the state’s way of helping you by way of a punishment that isn’t all that severe. On the contrary, a defensive driving course is a great way to brush up your understanding of the rules of the road – meaning that you’ll be a safer, smarter driver as a result.

Taking a defensive driving course can be optional. People often do it for insurance reasons as a way to keep their premiums down. Others do it to get points squashed on their driver’s license. But, when you’re dealing with a court-ordered driving course, you’re probably guilty of one of the following infringements:

  • Reckless driving
  • Running a red light
  • Passed a stopped school bus
  • Two crashes in a two-year period, which resulted in property damage greater than $500
  • You were a driver in a crash and are found at fault, and someone was transported to the hospital
  • Highway racing (including being a spectator)

If you’re taking a court-ordered driver improvement course, then it’s time to let Comedy Defensive Driving get behind the wheel.

How We Can Help

Depending on your state (we currently operate in Florida, Texas, and New Jersey), you’ll sign up for our registration process. Here we will request information such as name, email address, phone number, gender, address, date of birth, driver’s license number, and license plate number, which will be used to process the Certificate of Completion.

Inputting your Facebook account details will also ensure that this process is quick and painless. You will also need a credit or debit card to pay for the class after registering. Call us on 1-866-540-0584 at any stage of the process if you get stuck.

Our courses were created to breathe a little bit of life and humor into the hard work of learning. We’ve also made them so that you can finish in the fastest possible time. You can take Comedy Defensive Driving® at any of our classroom locations or take the course online.

So while it seems as though we’re the ones behind the wheel, you’re actually the one driving the process. You just need your own device (desktop PC, mobile, or tablet), and you’re good to go with the 100% online option. You can start and stop as you like. You can study in your underwear.

Things get a little more serious when you’ve completed the course and downloaded your certificate. You are responsible for presenting the completion certificate to the clerk’s office in the county where the citation was issued. Please consult with the traffic division in the clerk’s office in the county where the citation was issued for their exact requirements.

Submitting your certification correctly is the final step in ensuring that you get back behind the wheel after a court-ordered driving course.

Comedy Defensive Driving will have you laughing in class and then laughing behind the wheel as you drive away from your traffic worries in no time!

If you receive a speeding ticket or a fine for a traffic violation and suddenly have ‘points’ on your driver’s license, don’t be fooled into thinking you’re part of a government loyalty program where you earn ‘points’ that you can trade-in for airline miles.

This isn’t the NBA or the NFL. It’s just your state trying to keep its roads safe (loyal to its law-abiding citizens!) with a ‘points’ demerit system. And while it sounds friendlier than it is, getting points on your driver’s license isn’t as bad as it seems either.

Thankfully, Comedy Defensive Driving is here as your preferred online driving school to help with your license point reduction.

How Driver’s License Points Work

Depending on the state where you’ve got your driver’s license in, you’ll get around 12 virtual demerit points assigned to your license. These are valid for a year normally, and technically you lose those points if you do something like drive over the speed limit or get caught driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). So ‘getting points’ is actually losing the points you already have – if you get the point!

The severity of your infringement will determine the number of points you get. If you get too many points, you can have your license suspended, your insurance premiums can skyrocket, and you’ll soon find that life is far more of a hassle with lots of points on your license. Just try applying for a job that requires driving and see how that goes.

Keeping points off your driver’s license is like keeping a clean bill of health with your doctor and going for regular check-ups. And in this scenario, Comedy Defensive Driving is your online driving school ‘doctor,’ and our defensive driving course is the check-up.

Each state is slightly different, but let’s look at Texas, the Lonestar State, to get an idea of what you get points for. If you choose to pay the civil penalty for your infringement or are adjudicated guilty by a judge, your driving record will be assessed as follows:

  • Moving Violations: 3 points
  • Speeding 15 mph or less over posted speed: 3 points
  • Speeding more than 15 mph over posted speeds: 4 points
  • Passing stopped school bus: 4 points
  • Moving violation (non-speeding) resulting in a crash: 4 points
  • Unlawful speed resulting in a crash: 6 points
  • Reckless driving (criminal traffic violation): 4 points
  • Leaving the scene of a crash with damage: 6 points
  • Littering: 3 points
  • Violation of child restraint laws: 3 points

If you accumulate:

  • 12 points in 12 months, your license will be suspended for 30 days
  • 18 points in 18 months, your license will be suspended for 3 months
  • 24 points within 36 months, your license will be suspended for 12 months

License Point Reduction

Suppose you receive a ticket for a non-criminal moving violation, and you do not hold a commercial driver’s license. In that case, you may elect to attend a basic driver improvement course in lieu of points on your driving record.

What this means is that if you plead guilty to a minor traffic violation (let’s say speeding slightly over the limit), a judge might grant you the option of attending online driving school. This is so that the points you would have been awarded for the infringement don’t reflect on your driver’s license.

So here’s another technicality that can be confusing: when attending online driving school to reduce the points on your license, you’re just preventing the points from the fine you incurred from being awarded to your license. There are no additional points to be squashed or reduced for other infringements. It’s simply a case of attending driving school to cancel out the ‘my bad’ that you just caused on the roads.

Comedy Defensive Driving to the Rescue

Of course, there are other reasons for attending online driving school, but at Comedy Defensive Driving we wanted to focus on the points reduction element as a way to maintain a clean bill of health on your driver’s license.

Whatever your reason for needing to attend online driving school – be it to squash points, get better insurance premiums, or because you were caught drag racing and just need to keep your license – Comedy Defensive Driving is here to help.

With our 100% online class that is taught to you by professional comedians at the top of their game, you will learn how to control your speed, how to look ahead and be ready for something unexpected to happen at any moment, and how to remain alert and free from distraction.

Comedy Defensive Driving will have you laughing while you learn. We have taught over 3 million students so far countrywide, and we are confident that this is the best way to get points off your license in a fun and painless way.

Corporate defensive driving classes are beneficial for a multitude of reasons like getting all of your employees done at once and group discount cost. But not only is it convenient both work wise and financially, it may also help people retain information better. When working in groups there are several main benefits to consider: discussion of topics with peers, clarification of topics, motivation from others, added humor and you cant still take your class online!

1. Discussing topics with your peers

When taking corporate defensive driving classes many topics will be converted from seatbelts to speeding limits. Let’s be honest, its all been awhile since we have gone over some of the rules of the road and we can all use a little refresh. Occasionally we will go over a topic that hasn’t been brought since you first took your drivers license test at 16. This is where some open discussion with your peers can really come in handy.

If there is anything ever not understood, asking your peers can help, sometimes even more so than asking your instructor. We tend to remember things better when discussing them with friends or co workers. This helps create safer drivers on the road and it will help people pass their final defensive driving exam a little easier.

2. Clarification of topics

Another benefit of taking corporate defensive driving classes is clarification! We have all been there, maybe you zoned out or just didn’t understand a topic. With group classes, this problem can easily be solved. The chance of understanding topics when in a group discussion is very low. This makes taking a group class even more desirable than taking a class on your own.

3. Motivation from others

According to an article written by The Guardian One of the main reasons group work can be better is motivation. Humans are naturally motivated by others. When we see our peers learning and working hard we desire to do the same. “ The underlying drive to be part of a group, to be recognised and appreciated by its members, and to achieve high status among them can be a serious motivator when it comes to completing a task.”
This is a good reminder if you are either with a group of friends or work colleagues. If everyone is pulling their weight, you will all be more motivated. This again, creates safer drivers on the road!

4. Added humor

Working in a group will always add a sense of humor to any topic. Our courses are designed to be fun, but taking them with a group can make it even better. You are always bound to have at least one class clown in the group.
It is scientifically proven that humans are more likely to remember something if there was humor involved. “It appears that emotionally charged situations can lead us to create longer lasting memories of the event. When we are led to experience feelings of delight, anger or other states of mind, vivid recollections are often more possible than during everyday situations in which we feel little or no emotional attachment to an event.“ This is according to psychologistworld.com.
So why not get a group together to laugh AND to learn.

5. Corporate defensive driving classes can be done online!

Things have changed due to the coronavirus and we like everyone else are trying to stay safe. That is why you can get group training online. You can either get a group discount to all take your online class OR we have group zoom classes available for scheduling.
Both of these options are taught by professional comedians and can be scheduled at your likening. Theses options allow you the benefit of group learning without putting anyone at risk.

Make sure to sign up today at Comedy Defensive Driving or clink here to email about setting up a group zoom class for you company!

How to lower you New Jersey Auto Insurance rate and reduce points off your driving record isn’t as difficult as you might think. We  know with Covid-19 times are changing and like a lot of us, you are probably looking for ways to save some extra money. No one wants to over pay for their insurance, so let us help. If you have some extra time (like most of us do), take a break from Netflix and read below to find out how to reduce your monthly payments.

How your Automobile Insurance Rate Is Determined

First lets do a little explanation of how your auto insurance rate is determined. Today the average cost of automobile insurance in New Jersey is around $1346 per year and per vehicle. But  explaining why your auto insurance cost what it does isn’t as simple as you think. Unfortunately, it isn’t just about being a safe driver. There are 11 main factors that go into determining your rate. These 11 factors listed below all have different weights that come together to determine what you pay.

  1. Gender and Age
  2. Marital Status
  3. Where You Live
  4. Credit Score
  5. Profession
  6. Safety Rating
  7. Vehicle Size
  8. Age of the Car
  9. Likelihood of Theft
  10. Driving History
  11. Driving Activity

New Jersey’s Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction ACT or The AICRA

In 1998 the Garden State put the Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction Act or for short the AICRA in to place to control the rising cost of auto insurance.  This legislation required that New Jersey auto insurance rates be reduced by approximately $700 million or an overall 15%. On top of reducing cost this act allowed people to have more choices in coverage options, standard or basic policy, and it allowed you to better control your own cost. You can control your current insurance rate by doing any of the following:

  • Raise your deductibles. To lower your insurance rate, set your deductible higher.
  • Change your PIP benefit options. You can change your auto insurance coverage depending on your health insurance coverage. If your health insurance offers primary coverage for auto accidents injuries you can choose to have them be the primary payer for auto related accidents.
  • Limitation on Lawsuit option. Selecting this option can allow you to save up to 75% on bodily injury and property damage liability coverage.
  • Take a state approved defensive driving course. Those who complete a defensive driving course may receive discounts on their auto insurance by reducing the points on their driving record
  • Buy a safe car and drive safely. The most obvious way to lower cost and also, the safest! Remember to drive safely and always make sure  your car is up to date.

How to take a defensive driving course in New Jersey and reduce your Points

Taking a defensive driving course is easy, even in today’s crazy world. You can take a defensive driving course from the comfort of your own home! Thats right you don’t even need to leave your living room or put pants on. We don’t care what you wear at Comedy Defensive Driving.

There are a couple things to know when deciding on a Defensive Driving course to lower your insurance cost. Make sure your course is approved by the New Jersey MVC and all New Jersey cities and counties. Second, you may only receive a two point reduction once every 5 years and only if there are points on your driving record at the time you complete the course. Finally, check with your insurance agency. All insurance agencies are different, some and the amount of money you can save can change depending on the type or coverage you have and your personal driving record.

How much money can you save by taking an online defensive driving course?

Taking an online defensive driving course keeps your record clean and your insurance premiums low. All insurance agencies are different, some higher some lower but the average savings on auto insurance after taking a defensive driving course is around 10%. Since the average cost of New Jersey auto insurance is around $1,346 a year, that means a ten percent savings over three years would be around $402. Factor in that our course only cost $15 and has a free instant certificate for you to print and that means you save on average $387.

Why choose Comedy Defensive Driving to reduce points and lower your automobile insurance cost in New Jersey

We know, taking an online course about safe driving probably isn’t at the top of your list of things to do. Even though it helps save you money! All online courses are a minimum of 6 hours as required by the state and have a small quiz at the end of each section. This all sounds painful and not at all entertaining but we promise it is not all that bad. Thats why we made sure to make our course as hilarious and educational possible using real comedians, actors and lots of fun animation. We want everyone to laugh, learn and save money all at the same time when they take our course.

Stay safe and save some money on your car insurance. Until next time,

This holiday season, we have so many things to be thankful for. I, for one, am thankful that I have amazing friends and family that will bail me out of jail without hesitation (I hope). Thankful that I have been afforded good health and a happy outlook on life (drinking a lot helps there). And extremely thankful that no one close to me has been killed in a car accident this year. But there’s still one month left to go in 2013, which includes good old New Years Eve. So I will keep my fingers crossed. Although I am a thankful driver, I do know how the universe works.

I am thankful when someone lets me merge in traffic. And, in return, the quick flash of the headlights from someone thanking me for letting them merge gives me a nice, warm “fuzzy.” It’s always good to be a thankful driver, and a courteous one as well. I am ever so thankful when I see more than one person in the car pool lane. That is better for our environment in so many ways. And thankful that motorcyclists can get in the car pool lane by themselves and that babies count as one of your passengers in the car pool lane. After all, they should count. Plus, this is a good learning opportunity for them to see how Mommy and Daddy react in traffic. Babies pick up bad words, you know, so bridle your tongue. I give thanks when I see a mom following all of the proper safety precautions with her precious cargo in tow. And, when I see a motorcyclist wearing a helmet. Now, that truly warms my heart.

Parents of small children have so many reasons to give thanks this year. Child safety laws have become more and more stringent. The citation fee for passing a school bus with its red lights flashing, also known as “overtaking a school bus” has reached a whopping $1,250.00. Seat belt laws, booster seat and car seat laws, talking or texting in a school zone and speeding in a school zone are all hefty fines. Funny, kids weren’t as important when I was a kid. Kids are really important now. Especially the private school kids. They have seat belts in their buses and everything. Of course I’m just “ kidding.” I love kids.

Until next week…Happy Thanksgiving.
