Before you register to take our classroom or online course at Comedy Defensive Driving, you will need to get a copy of your Texas driving record, because the court wants to see how many traffic violations you have previously had dismissed. Many times, it is possible to take our course, again, even if you have had other tickets dismissed in the past. The court that processed your traffic citation can let you know the policy of the judge that handled your case, and whether or not you will qualify to take Comedy Defensive Driving in Houston or elsewhere in the state. Here is some information about your driving record that you need to know before enrolling in our course:
• You must be approved for defensive driving by the court that issued you the traffic citation
• The court will tell you if you need to order a certified copy of your Texas driving record
• Some courts in the state will get your driving record for you and will charge you for it
• If you are not sure about this, contact the court for more information
The Best Way to Get Your Texas Driving Record
We recommend that you get your Texas driving record online. This can easily be done by logging onto the website of the State of Texas. Simply follow the links to “order driving record.” You will need version 3A – the certified copy that most courts in the state require. The cost is $12.00, and you can pay this by credit card online. Within a few days, you should receive it in the mail. Keep your driving record in a safe place, because after you complete your Texas online defensive driving course, you will need to present it to the court, along with your Defensive Driving Completion Certificate and any other required affidavits.
